Privacy
DOM-defense is a Chrome extension that overlays a local game on pages you choose to play. The game script runs only after you click Play (or open a featured level). We send minimal, anonymous gameplay telemetry to our server so we can improve the product and report aggregate performance to featured-level sponsors.
What we collect
- A random install identifier (
installId) stored in extension local storage — not tied to your Google account. - Per play session: a random session id, event type (
session_start/session_end), timestamp, and outcome (win, lose, quit, or unknown). - Page origin and path of the tab you played on (for example
https://example.comand/blog). Query strings and fragment identifiers are not sent. - Active play duration (visibility-aware), count of path hyperlinks at start, and how many of those path blockades were breached by the end of the session.
- Optional featured-level campaign id when you play a sponsored level.
For Chrome Web Store privacy practices, this is website content (page origin and path) and user activity (anonymous session start/end and outcomes), sent to our own server — not sold to data brokers.
What we do not collect
- Page HTML, form fields, passwords, cookies, or keystroke contents.
- Browsing history outside the pages where you explicitly start a game.
- Personal identity except the email you provide when purchasing a campaign (used for receipts and daily analytics updates).
Retention
Our intended retention for raw play events is about 90 days; aggregate metrics may be kept longer. Automatic deletion of raw events is not implemented in the product yet — until it is, events remain in our database until we purge them manually. Sponsors see aggregate stats for their campaign URL, not individual player identities.
